The First Big Cheat

It's been awhile since I did an update on the Harcombe Diet. I decided today would be a good day to do it. Why you ask? Because today was the first day I cheated. Nobody is perfect (and personally, I'm blaming PMS).

I've been doing really well living the sugar-free, caffeine-free, non-processed lifestyle. I'm down about nine pounds (whoo hoo!) and my energy level is good. But today I woke up feeling tired and cranky. I attempted a morning run, but only made it about a mile. Work just made it all seem more dramatic. What really sounded good...what I really thought would cheer me up is a Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino. So I let myself have a tall one. Sugar, caffeine, processed syrup--it had it all. And you know what? It really did make me feel better. After being mocha free for three weeks, it was an extra special treat.

It's all good. I had my cheat and now I'm back to behaving. Life needs a little treat now and then when you're feeling down in the dumps. I think with nine pounds down, I deserved a little splurge. Maybe I'll have another next nine pounds.

The nice thing about following the Harcombe way of life is that it's fairly easy to maintain. And the longer I go without processed foods and sugar, the less I want them in my body. Yes, I still crave sugar now and then. And it's hard to walk past the plate of brownies without taking one. But for the most part I feel like I'm doing such good things for my body. I'm treating it right (and seeing my pants get a little loser isn't so bad either).

About Me

My photo
I am the owner of The Fit Life, LLC. The Fit Life, LLC offers fitness instruction and nutrition counseling in a holistic way. I focus on personal training using mainly your own body strength--very little equipment. I also hold a certification in holistic nutrition. Because nutrition counseling regulations are very strict in Ohio, I'm still working on what nutrition services I can provide to my clients; however, I'm happy to provide general nutrition information. I enjoy teaching TRX, Indoor Cycling, and Boot Camps.
